My name is Trina Colpitts.
I walk for Jim and I walk for myself. I have never known a man as dedicated to family, work and play as my sweetheart, Jim. In that order, he gave everything he had at all times. There was never half-way in how much he loved or how dedicated he was to excelling in all parts of his life. Being physically active was a large part of our life together and some days I still feel him close. I hope he is proud of how I am living my life.
Jim's dedication to all parts of his life often stretched him very thin and he forgot himself in the larger equation. I started this foundation because I wanted to remind people that we are in charge of our own mental health and that physical and mental health are inextricably connected. I also wanted to create a mechanism where we could fund projects that help young people learn practical ways to manage their own mental health early in life. With my whole heart, I believe that tools early in life will create healthier and happier children and more capable adults.
We need to lean on ourselves and lean on each other throughout our days; we don't need to walk this path alone. I love this man and the joy he brought to me.
That's why I walk.
